Today I came to vac the car and both of the rear foot wells are wet with the drivers side being worse.

Both front foot wells are bone dry.

It also looks like some form of Mildew has appeared I'm assuming due to damp conditions.

I'm unsure what It can be and if it's a leak or not with it also being on the middle hump section between foot wells?

I've taken the rear mats out scrubbed the carpet and vacuumed it, I've also ordered a re-usable dehumidifier bag which I will leave in the car which may help.

The car is used daily, it's a 2007 Grande Punt0 1.2

Pictures attached.

Could be rain leaking past the rear door seals, but unlikely. More likely is the tailgate seal, or rear lamps where they fit against the body.

Need to check the boot too, wheel well could be wet.
Look for traces of water stain past the seals.
I've a 3 door Punto Grande - with the same problem, heavy rain last weekend and the footwell behind the driver seat is soaking. I'll check the rear lights and tailgate seals: any tips on how to rectify if there are gaps?

Cheers for now - and thanks for the hints you already gave....

Hi,

I have a Grande Punto 3 door, 2007 plate with exactly the same issue. If you have water on the mat and seat then I would say leaky window seal. But if you have... like me, just the one footwell behind driver seat that is absolutely saturated with water, then I would suggest as is posted here:

https://www.fiatforum.com/grande-punto-guides/241678-fix-water-footwell-rust-brake-servo.html

I tested this today by running water down the windscreen and is exactly what has happened in this post. Water does not get drained properly from the drain channels around the wipers and so drips into places it shouldn't. I am thinking of taking into mechanics soon as I do not have tools or sealant to fix. I did have mould patches on the middle seat part of mat similar to image. But this wasn't saturated like the footwell.

However my issue was more that it looks as if the seal is broke from above wiper. Had loads of gunk which looked like dead leaves and was like a compost, sitting underneath it which must have lifted it. Also there is a drain which is just before the engine which was also filled with gunk, this looked like a ducks bill. I cleaned this as much as I could.

I reckon I'm going to need the whole plastic seal and grill changed.

Has rained tonight quite heavily, and checked the footwell and not as wet as it has been. Perhaps cleaning helped a little but still going to get it in asap.
