Hello guys,
So I've started to notice this issue a while ago, but since it wasn't that noticeable I just ignored it, but as it's getting worse I thought you guys could help me giving some pointers.
My mom recently bought a 2015 1.3 Multijet, exactly like my 2014, and I noticed her car start up and idle was nothing like mine. It was amazingly silent, you could barely notice it was a diesel inside the cabin. Just like mine, when I bought it.
The issue goes like this: when I start it up it's way noisier, then you start hearing a tapping noise through the cabin that gets worse the hotter the engine gets.
If I shuffle around inside the car (trying to shake it) the noise somewhat immediately disappears and appears again.
If I give it a bit of throttle the tapping also disappears.
I've also noticed that, when the symptoms started showing up, that tapping noise/vibration would depend on the road surface where the car was stopped.
Apart from this idle tapping, the car runs great.
First I thought it could be some insulator/cushion on the plastic engine cover, so I removed it. Even though the tapping was reduced, you could still tell.
After fidgeting around, it seems that tapping comes from somewhere around the induction/airbox.
I've googled around and it seems there's a rear engine mount located behind the airbox, and I wonder if that's the culprit.
She's about 60.000 kms (not even), so I don't think it could be injectors or the flywheel, but I have no idea.
Hope someone can help me out.
Thanks a lot, guys.
