Having recently replaced the rear springs on my 1999 2.4 JTD Weekend and fitted MAD assister springs for towing I'm looking to replace the front next.
Got a good price (I think) for the shocker/struts from Shop4Parts £53 each but can't track down the springs.
Has anybody come accross a supplier, don't want to have to contact FIAT direct if I can help it.
Thanks in advance

hi mate, try www.andrewpage.com , its a company i use a lot and i know they can get the springs for your car, i have a marea 2.4 jtd130 weekend as well and they could get them no problem for me:D . i use the doncaster branch which are great:worship: but they do have one in newcastle also, tel no 01912242345. sure you'll get on fine. kev.(y)

I fitted the spring assisters as the nose weight of my caravan was getting close to the limit of the cars suspension, this has the added advantage of allowing me to load the boot up with both dogs and cage etc. and even the boat on the top.!!!
This type of assister (Progressive) only comes into effect when the original springs are loaded to beyond 75% of their loading, so they don't effect the normal driving or handling.
I got them from MAD Suspension approx £75 and an hour to fit (easy no special tools required) Hope this explains that its the suspension thats mad and not me !!!

hi i have a 2.4 weekend on standard rear suspension and tow a large caravan without any problems

I bought the car with the towbar already fitted by the previous owner who also towed a caravan and had those rubber doughnut type assisters fitted to the rear springs, but I've found that these can actually cause the spring to break. And on checking, sure enough the offside spring was broken just above the doughnut.
I decided that as I was going to fit new springs I may as well fit the additional springs at the same time.
After fitting I can only say that the ride under load now has to be experienced to be believed , I've towed for over 25 years and used some kind of assistance on quite a few of my tow cars and this type to be the best yet.

If you consider that on the Weekend the swan neck tow ball is approx 1 mtr rearward of the line of axle pivot point (think of a see-saw). Then consider how much extra leverage you get when using a short extension bar on a socket and then think about the 70 - 80KG noseweight on a 1 mtr lever. the suspension can't help but be stressed.
That's been my experience anyway, hope it explains my use of assisters.
