Hi all
Been registered her for a while as I bought a Marea 2.4TD (125hp) Weekend and have had issues with the engine.
I know it is the same engine as the Alfa 156, my issue is with the bottom pulley...
When I got the car I found someone have welded the pulley assembly to stop the movement in it. This would have been done as a replacement pulley is expensive and, on this car, not easy to replace.
The bottom, Crank?, pulley should have some give in it which is why it is spring loaded.
The end result of all that is that my engine sounds like a tank or, to be more precise, it ticks like I have a very loud indicator on all the time. It is so loud that other road users can hear it without their windows open at the lights.
I really like the car and dont want to have to scrap it but my mechanic and I have no idea how to fix this without a new engine, bottom end, we have replaced the pulley but it was only quiet for 3 months and is now worse than before.
Any suggestions please.
