Looking for advice to improve waterproofness of my 1987 4x4
Would like to be able to drive through some water without dieing engine

Just installing a snorkel on air intake wont help if electrica dies sooner

Thinking about putting dielectric grease in spark plug leads caps to prevent moist getting into (plugside and distributor side)

DIstributor is vented so water can get in. How to prevent?
Would it hurt when putting a big blob dielectric grease on al 4 points?

Maybe wrap distributor complete distributor in a rubber/ silicone glove with leads trough cut open fingerstips and ziptie them close

What about carb?

Other thoughts or helpful ideas ?

The military use special caps and leads for the spark plugs and protected distributors, you see them on Army Land Rovers, don't forget things need to breath also, like distributors ,axles, gearboxes, fuel tanks, etc. some have breather pipes going higher up.
In many cases it can be a case of directing the spray away from sudden blasts of water, so sealing under engine compartment and around grill and bonnet, but remembering the actual radiator needs air to pass through it for cooling, but when water goes through also then it's path needs to be directed away from electrics.
Covering distributor etc. with plastic will cause condensation which will stop the engine as well.
You could try blasting a hose at the car and seeing where the common areas are.
One small point if wading through deeper water and rivers a light car will simple float away out of control, so even if engine is running, if the wheels are not touching ground you will still have no control.;)
