HI ALL THAT READ THIS THREAD,
I HAVE A FIAT SCUDO 1.9D YEAR OF 99

FRIDAY I STARTED TO DEVELOPE A NOCKING RATTLING SOUND FROM WITH IN THE ENGINE MORE TOWARDS THE TIMING BELT WATER PUMP DONE SOME LOOKING ROUN D AND FOUND A SLIGHT LEAK FROM UNDERNEATH THE VAN SO WENT ON TO TAKING OF THE PLASTIC COVERS THAT HOUSE THE BELT FOR WATER PUMP AND TIMING TO NOTICE IT LOSE WHILST RUNNING ON THE COG TO WITCH IT WAS SLIDE TOWARDS THE OFF SIDE OF THE COG HOWEVER ONCE THE THROTAL WAS ENGAGED IT WOULD PULL BACK TO MORE IN LESS THE CENTRE OF THE COG.
YESTERDAY THE VAN PACK UP FOR GOOD AS IN NO COMPRESSION WHEN TURNING OVER

ANY POINTERS WOULD BE HELP FULL AND WHAT DAMAGE MAY OF BEEN CAUSED SUCH AS BENT VALVES OR NONE :bang:

Hi,
its hard to say,
sometimes you can get lucky and no bent valve's.
try your luck...put anew belt on time it up and see if run's.

you shouid of stopped while the going was good and not run the engine and just changed belt tensioner & pump it was obviously long over due
for achange of them,

It would appear from your description that the water pump was well worn, allowing the belt to move. It has now apparently allowed the belt to slip a tooth or more. This may have caused valves and pistons to meet, needing a head off job to check and repair. If lucky, the timing slipping will upset the injection timing, so it won't fire. New pump and belt, and reset correctly may fix. Can't answer on the forum, needs someone to look at it who knows what they are seeing.

PS: Take the CAPS LOCK off when posting. It is considered shouting, and will reduce the likelihood of replies.
