DOES ANYONE HAD A PROBLEM WITH A WET AIR FILTER WHEN YOU DRIVE IN WET CONDITIONS,THIS PROBLEM APPEARS ON MY BRAVA 1.9 JTD 100 SX,MODEL YEAR 2001.THE PROBLEM THAT I HAVE NOTICED IS THAT THE AIR INTAKE IS LOCATED JUST BEHIND THE HOODS GRILL SO WATERDROPS ARE SUCKED INTO THE AIR INLET.
DOES ANYONE HAVE A SOLUTION FOR THIS ?

water in filter

Mine does the same. I have mentioned this to Fiat and they were surprised! Check the drain hole in the bottom of the filter box, I think the water is being drawn in through it. The air filter sits right in front of the front left wheel and, in wet weather, is being fed a nice supply of mud and water. I'm planning to block or partially block the hole and see what happens.

SOLUTION

YOU MUST BLOCK THE AIR INLET SITUATED BEHIND THE GRILL(black plastic tube)WHIT A PIECE OF THICK PLASTIC.
THEN MAKE A HOLE OF THE SAME SIZE TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THIS BLACK TUBE(where the tube is straight).
YOU NEED TO TAKE OUT THE BLACK TUBE TO MAKE THIS NEW HOLE AND THEN REMOUNT IT.
I DID THIS AND NOW THE AIR FILTER STAYS DRY!!!!
DO NOT BLOCK THE HOLE FOR WATERDRAIN IN THE AIRFILTER BOX!!!!
RESULT:IT WORKS PERFECTLY!!

Re: SOLUTION

i have a 1.6 16v in the bottom of the air filter box there should be a hole this is where the water that does succeed in getting in should go back out of as well as little stones etc, on the other end of this hole is a resimae box which lets these out!
