Warning light

I have had an orange warning light that comes up near the fuel gauge it resembles an engine I think. The car is a Fiat BravoSX 1245cc. The car is miss behaving at the moment as if the carburetor has a blockage, although I don't think this is the problem regarding the warning light. It has however come on when it has juddered, so its confusing. Can't think what this symbol means. I know what the rest are, but not this one. Wondered if you can help.

Sounds like the engine management light to me..

A number of things can cause it to come on... some easy to sort, others not.

First check your battery connections, especially the earth

Yes as in miss firing. When you accelerate it holds back and is miss firing. Will look at the suggestion tomorrow about earthing if more than that will have to take it to Dannies who does repairs here in our part of Wales.

i dont know too much about the 1.2 engine but i would suggest a diagnostic if you can get it done fairly cheaply in your area.

will for-warn you though that they can be misleading, a crank sensor fault etc could really be and earthing fault but it give you something to check.

have you had any work done recently to the car?

No work has been done since last year. And that was a general tune up and MOT. It was a crash car that has been done up and there have been a few faults from that so if not earth then will get it into garage. If its simple then I will have a go, but usually I don't touch cars. DIY and photography yes with a bit of computer maintenance I am ok on.

Repaired

It was the spark plug leads breaking down. So if any one else has the same problem check them out.
