If your iPhone suffers from dead/stuck pixals ur screwed as apple don't have LCD policy on there phones even under warrenty, i asked my freind who works for apple and I even phone and both have confirmed this...this is the last apple product Ill have this is my 4 replacement model.....I think I'll go back to Linux and buy the new n900 ....I would replace the LCD my self but last time I took an iPod touch aprt I had nightmares putting it back together

There is an app that can remove dead pixels (though if they're properly dead you're screwed), I used it on a co-workers phone but cant recall the name (a quick google showed this but I dont think its the same one I used: http://www.ebaspace.com/iphone-app/#home) Basically when you run it flashes random colours all over the screen for about 3-5 minutes, works a treat.

Iv sort if fixed it stripped the phone down lite pressure on te screen and pushes them out....some pixals have went green but tleast it's alot better, mite just but replacemt than sell the fcker....neve again will I own an iPhone

hehe i was clever enough NOT to support apple with anything :D iphone was a pice of gash if you asked me, little brother has a 3gs and i cant bluetoth things to him unless i own another iphone and the camera is so poor its really quite sickening for a £400 phone and yet people still buy them for some strange reason

http://www.ifixit.com/ - best site for iPhone parts apparently if you have an issue like this. Full walk through of what to do in many instances as well (y)

iPhones and Apple products in general are mainly sealed units. Macbooks you can replace hard drives, ram and that's about it. Your optical drive goes and you're kind of screwed for example.

The iPhone is no exception. It has it's flaws and I'll never deny that BUT it sells for a tonne of reasons - one of the main ones being that everyone can use it. It's just about the most intuitive device you can buy and the shear simplicity and accessibility of it sells it. It doesn't baffle a user with tech terminology and ask you to read the manual to set it up. Sure this may annoy those wanting to delve deeper into the software/hardware and muck about with it but many don't want to do that.

I admire the ease of using it - the interface is massively better than most other touch screen phones I've used, the responsiveness of it for example is another sticking point for me over other phones. The OS doesn't delay in actually operating the way many Sony Ericsson smart phones do and there's no awkward stylus needed, which I've also seen on many other phones.

The flaws - camera is crap, which is fair enough. 2mp (in the case of my 3G) on a modern camera phone is indeed rubbish. But compared to other camera's of the same rating it actually stands up rather well in my opinion. I do wish it had more options to edit pictures and the like but then that's what apps are for ;)

Other things like bluetooth capabilities are indeed idiotic of Apple. I think it's to do with their whole file sharing paranoia, linked to iTunes and all that. It's something users have been crying out for them to change, thankfully it's something a firmware update could change. I also believe that if you jailbreak the iPhone you can use bluetooth a lot more freely.

For the record as well, I didn't actually want to get an iPhone in the first place. I was going to get a Samsung i8510, but couldn't on o2 for the money and the n96 I'd heard was slow and also expensive so got an iPhone and the contract that came with it. Oh yeah and it was FREE from o2 :D

I'm also on my fourth handset BUT I took it to the Apple Store in Glasgow each time and they replaced it there and then rather than faffing about - when did you ever get service like that direct from one of the major networks? :D

The only other handset I'd consider away from an iPhone is a decent Android powered smart phone - something from HTC for example though apparently Windows Mobile on the HD2 is pretty decent.

unofrtunatly even with a jailbroken iphone (my brothers) still could not use bluetooth to share files over different phones as for the repairing service ive never actually had a phone break on me yet so never had a problem with that ill say the iphone is a better phone than the nokias have produced for that last few models at least as they just keep trying to put more in the phones thinking the more is better option it never is though i still say you are better of with a good solid phone and an ipod touch if you want an iphone you get the better deal then
most of the HTC phones ive seen are really quite good although still a bit on the cumbersome side at the moment but getting better :) but i still havent tried an android phone yet so need to rectify that one i think :D

I have to say, I'll get something different probably next. No point in staying with iPhone next as it'll just be essentially more of the same with the 3GS. Only real differences are it'll be slightly faster, video capabilities and a slightly better camera. Form factor needs to change radically and other improvements made for me to have an iPhone for another 18 months.

Saying that though, I'll keep my options open. Don't get my upgrade till June next year after all and technology does move rather quickly :D
