Sometimes, when my engine is at normal operating temp, (cooling fan working okay) the engine will just stall and will not restart until the engine has cooled below about the quarter mark on the temp gauge. Any ideas?

Mk2 Punto, 1.2 8V

New battery
Good relays and good connctions, checked them

Thanks
Greg

Okay, I now where the coolant sensor is as I have swapped it out before. But where is the air temp sensor? Is that the one that is attached on the back of the fuel injection unit (i.e. Inlet manifold temp. sensor)? I know the coolant sensor is fairly cheap (£24.00) but I think the other one is almost £80.00. I will try the coolant one first.

With the symtoms i described above cause the ecu to switch the engine off?
Just curious.

Thanks Greg

P.S. The rabbit is getting into the festive spirit:)
