Wanted! Sump

I'm after a sump for a bravo 1.8 16v hlx, does anyone have one on an engine that has seized up?
The sump plug on mine is cross threaded ( by it's last owner)and is leaking badly.
I have tried the usual channels such as ebay and have drawn up a blank, it seems to me that the traders that advertise on there are so busy that they can't return your calls, so I'm hoping someone on here can help.

go to a garage and have it repaired with "Helicoil" or you can buy the kit and do it yourself. Any good garage should do it. I had my Proton done, never leaked after.

is it leaking from the sump plug or around the sump seal?

if its only the plug and you cant remove it take it to a garage and have the sump plug removed by them, had to have this done on my van but was a lot cheaper than getting a s/hand sump new gasket etc etc

i believe the 1.8 uses a silicon sealant on the sump and not a specific gasket!

I thought I had said it was leaking from the sump plug, I finally had a breakers come back to me last nite, I was quoted £30.00 all in for a secondhand one, of course this this doesn't include fitting, I was aware of a crude way of welding it up but this would mean not being able to change the oil next time around, I certainly would prefer a repair kit if availiable.

Thanks for the link to ebay, I've looked already, just need to find out the size and worried about filings in the bottom of the sump, if I do it while it's still on the car.

Well this system was originally developed for stripped plug threads. the filings are trapped in the tool so do not go into the cylinder

i would say best to get a new or s/hand sump.

The comedians at Fiat want £195.00 for a new sump, I can get a s/hand one for £30.00 but that doesn't include me getting someone to fit it for me, I think the helicoil route is one I'm gonna go for, once I find out what size the sump plug is.

as i mentioned previously, find a garage that will do it for you. that way you are not buying a tool that you may never use again.

Thanks everybody for your advice and the links, the sump has been repaired but will have to be replaced when the next oil change is due, the garage I used, used something call chemical weld, I did mention the helicoil but he had already done the work before I knew about the helicoil.
The main thing is the car is back home and running for the fist time in well over a year.
I'm looking forward to driving it on a regular basis, I know it's not the quickest thing out there but it's afordable driving for me and the wife(wife still has a provisional liecence) and the old mk3 golf gti 16v wouldn't been that.

Glad you got it fixed. Just a word regarding next oil change. Oil can be sucked out without removing sump plug. I think you can buy an attachment for your electric drill
