I'm after the tailgate locking mechanism and handle. Basically, everything contained within that plastic bit above the number plate.

(the piece highlighted in red including the boot release)

Not sure how easy it would be to swap the barrels over, so if that's not possible, I'd need the barrel and a copy of the key.

The damned thing decided to stop opening at the weekend and after completely removing the wiper motor and locking mechanism, I found what I thought to be the problem (a missing split ring that was holding the catch in) and fixed it. Tested it and all was working well but it's gone again, so there must be something else.

If anyone knows of a Weekend being broken, I'd also be interested. I have already spoken to Andy who tells me his one is already broken too. It's a known & common fault :(

Bump !

Also, if anyone can find out the part number, I'd be most appreciative. The part I want is the actual handle and lock mechanism. It's a fairly small part and just a simple latch device. I don't have an EPR here sadly :( I'd be able to identify it off one of their exploded views.

When I changed mine over the lock barrel just unscrewed and came out easy. put mine in and all works!

The only thing is check the condition of the spring loaded handle cover on the underside
(the rectangle you press up to open the boot) as mine works fine but if I accidently try to open the boot while the car is locked the handle stays stuck up and I can't unlock it...

@ Rascal: Yes, already asked him but he doesn't have that part.

@ Pro: Same problem here. It got worse over time until the other week when it failed completely. I initially found a missing split ring that held a lever in place in the locking mechanism. I replaced it and all seemed well, but it didn't last. Hence my need for a new one.

It's a very common problem with Weekends. The rubber foam seal around the plastic plate eventually goes, letting all sorts of crap (and water) into the latch mechanism. The handle gets stiff, the return springs rust and the whole thing becomes a sorry mess.

At least I can still access the load space through the back seats very easily. And with 2 kids, and a job that has me away from home a lot, that space is VERY important ;)
