try and avoid the selespeed if you can, do without some of the toys but if you look you may find one with them all.

can be a little thirsty, but driven normally i can get between 24-28mpg around town.

tends to drink alot of oil, bout a ltr every 1k so check every weekend.

make sure it has a full service history with full receipts and that it has been done on time, late ones tend to lead to breakages and big bills.

remember its quite high insurance abarth is 14
schui is 15
schui gp is 16

its the tax thats the killer goes up to about 215 in 2009 and then by 2010 its in the highest class and thats about 420.

check cambelt is done if its around 50k miles, if not its a must. any strange engine noises walk away, could lead to very very big bills.

other than that just try and find a well looked after one, its pretty specialist in the way it needs treating so need one from a like minded enthusiast really(y)

oh and welcome:wave:

And cheaper fuel no doubt!

The selespeed is a good gearbox - sort of, personally I prefer a manual, but just for the gimmick factor it's good but it is a little slow on changing (in my opinion)

manual all the way, alot less to go wrong, and usually cheaper if it does(y)

So is the selespeed gearbox not the same gearbox with a load of electrical gubbins stuck on top?

I believe it is but because the Selespeed handles the way the clutch is applied at different revs, it doesn't get as much load put on the gearbox when compared to the enthusiastic manual drivers out there... eg. it doesn't go dumping the clutch at 6krpm :D

nope the selespeed was a lancia box, which made its way over too some manuals early 05, but the rest of the manuals are getrag gm boxes.

dont dump the clutch at 6k:eek::eek:

3.5k is plenty for a lighting start and no wheelspin, but there are all the acutators and hydraulics to go wrong that arnt on the manual, plus the acuatator needs adjusting and dont go there with the cost of replacing one(n)

sorry manual is best, then you choose how you drive it, if your too rough youve only got yourself to blame, like me:eek:
