with just the stereo on you use less battery power than having the ignition on
however if you have sub and amps i wouldn't have it on for hours without running the engine as you will flatten the battery
if you have the ignition on you are running the complete ignition system all the time its on. i.e coil packs ecu etc etc
where as with just stereo no other system is on therefore potentionally less power use and less damage being caused over the long run

yer cheers mate,think i am going to switch the wires over

I do have sub+amp but i have my amp fitted with an inline switch so that i can turn the amp off when stationary without engine on.(or when i cba with it bein on lol)
