General Vertical lines on RT3 mono screen

Hi,

I have an Eleganza 2.2 JTD 53 plate with the RT3 mono screen. For a while now it has been developing vertical lines on the screen which ca break up the text depending on where they fall. The lines are not always in the same place and sometimes there are lots of them and sometimes not so many though it does seem to be getting progressively worse. If I press the dark button I can see how many there are. At the moment there are about 15 lines. Has anybody else experienced this?

I had the same on an 03 Eleganza, ended up buying a new screen, about €380 here in Ireland.Have a look at www.pavlek.de I think they may repair screens as well as RT3 units, I can't speak or read German though.

Did you replace the screen yourself, and if so was it difficult?

Hi, Very easy, lift up "tray" containing screen, remove two screws and disconnect wire. Tray lifts from front corners, connector has small fiddly bit to get it to release. New screen comes with software and instructions.

Problem has now progressed and am not sure it is just a screen problem. It started about a week ago while I was playing an mp3 disc though I'm sure I have seen the problem before. On ejecting the disc the Fiat logo comes up on the screen and stays there. I managed to get it to come back to life by reinserting the disc and changing to the radio. I have been advised this morning that the logo has come up again and will not go off and looks a bit faint. This seems a bit more that just a screen problem. Could it be the whole rt3 unit?

Are there lines in the FIAT logo? I presume this is a round logo!, does the radio and cd work?

Just got somebody to test it for me. The round fiat logo did have one broken line through it and the radio and cd would not work as well as the phone. I then asked for the mp3 disc to be re-inserted as all the problems did seem to start when this was inserted the other day. At frst nothing happened. So I asked for the disc to be ejected, this did not happen straight away but then suddenly the screen came back and the disc ejected. At the moment the screen is back albeight with eleven lines down it. Am I right in thinking that a replacement rt3 unit is thousands of pounds?
