Which is why the moderators will actually have to start moderating! Surely this is better than removing post counts which is a crucial part of any forum.
It works on every other forum I've been on. If certain sections are currently moderated by people that are not here often then get new moderators in.

Apparently so, and the method of getting rid of the spam is the first of it's kind on any forum I've seen. Most would crack down on the crap, delete it and issue warnings to the offenders which does work.
So is the only reason people arent happy about the spam because its bumping up peoples post counts and then looks more useful people look less useful as they have less posts?
Or are we just trying to lower the number of posts?

In a nutshell, there is too much sh*t being posted.
we never said this would be a perminant thing, we never said post counts wouldnt ever be back, this is a trial run for now like i said SEE HOW THINGS GO, we are doing what we can, but i dont know what is the big hang up on post counts anyway????

My point is that this is a complicated and silly way to do it when a simple alternative is so obvious.

The problem is this site is being used by a few people as a general forum (eg chatting in pointless threads?), not as a fiat forum with a small general chit chat section. hmmm deja vu swear i already said this earlier

BUT i did join this forum because i had a fiat and because it looked useful and it has been useful. Thats why i find it weird when people join just to post crap in the LL.

It won't. The only way to stop spam is to properly moderate the forum. If posts in the Leisure Lounge didn't count towards the post count and the rest of the forum was properly moderated with nonsense posts and spam being jumped on then the problem is solved. I'm the only one making sense here!

no, because part of the problem is that spam threads clog up the new posts page, thus making the forum a pain to have a quick peek through. its not just the fact its spam, its the things spam brings alongside it just as much as the spam itself.
So start actually moderating!!!
