v-power

v-power

I ran V-Power in the Swift for 5 weeks straight, mainly because I liked the little Ferrari keyrings. Did seem to have a little better initial response also the VVT activating was more noticeable but only to a small extent. Could have been placebo effect, well whatever it was had the tank run down to the last few litres yesterday and has a tank of 95 in it now. Usually when I switch from 98 to 95 I have a few moments of thinking "hmm this isn't picking up quite as well it should" when I'm gunning it for overtaking e.t.c. but otherwise its just expensive unleaded..

I never just "top-up" the tank, I always run from full to the reserve light and I always trip the computer after each fill up. Using v-power normally gives me an extra 40-50 miles, and considering its only 8p more expensive it saves in the long run (depending how and what you drive)

I normally run it one in every four fill ups to keep things running nicely(y)

You need to run a few tankfulls through for it to have any proper effect even if you do run into the reserve. Also if you are doing that you are dragging all the crap that sits at the bottom of your tank through the engine.

Better to get a little bit and run it out with some 'cleaning' v-power than to just collect more and more of it;)

Had the car for a year with only 40k on the clock, using v-power 1 in 4 fills stops the crap from collecting.

The MGB loves V power, but it was designed to run on 5 star the residue of which has enough lead in it to line a church roof. I remember years ago Motor ran some tests on a Saab with a knock sensor (happy pre GM days) when it was new technology. The electronics let the engine extract the extra performance potential from the less knock prone high octane fuels and it showed up in acceleration times and top speed. The implication is that a tankful would go further but then it costs more. All fuels, even Supermarket ones now have detergents in them, this wasn't always the case.

i havent seen sludge in a tank in years, and can confirm that v power does keep the crap from collectiing on and around the inlet valves, and i know this from pulling engines to bits
