v-power

i had vpower in my car when i got it rr after geting my gsr and run 113.6bhp when i went back to get the remap done before the map i only run 110.3bhp and that was on normal unleaded after the map i run 120bhp so some might say it went down becouse i did not have vpower init that time. but then i got it rr again after geting my exhaust done and had vpower in it then and only run 121bhp and that was with a new exhaust so just goes to show vpower dont work in cars like puntos. how ever if you have an evo or subaru ect vpower has been proven to add around 10bhp

a car with the right ECU and sensors it'll make a difference, it'll let the timing be advanced more before det, so will run more power.

but if your car doesnt have a knock sensor, or doesnt use it to adjust the ignition timing then it won't make much difference (other than a slightly lower exhaust temp iirc)

Almost word for word wht they said on the telly.

What cars did they use?
The only episode of TG I saw where they used a Dyno was the challenge where they had to buy a junior Italian supercar; Ferrari 308 GTB (4?), Maserati Merak and a Lamborghini Uracco.

That wasn't very helpful was it?

It was fith gear and they used a scooby a golf and something else I can't remember.

I was wondering what cars red dot used to prove V-Power didn't increase power. Didn't realise it was just an over heard conversation.

i have a mk2 punto (1999) so will i see/feel any difference?
i heard it sort of "cleans" the engine too...is this right?

Yes it does help to 'clean' the inside by getting rid of/preventing carbon deposits around the valves. The benefit is that the induction is cleaner and more of the fuel is burnt which means that the fuel goes further to increase mpg.

Vpower works better on some cars than others depending on the amount of adaptive engine timing control / variable valve timing. On a 8v punto it might not make that much difference tbh as engine timing is fixed but has a knock sensor however I did notice a difference on oen of my previous cars with a 8v engine, a 16v punto should also see a difference.

Depends on the car as said.

V-power doesnt only increase power though. It has cleaning agents and will keep the inside of your engine alot cleaner than normal petrol or tescos 99ron (which doesnt have the cleaning agents).

In a number of cars I have previously owned, they ran terrible on anything but V-power and you really could notice the difference. Plus, they tended to use alot more petrol on the lesser octanes.

In my Fiat Uno, however, I wouldnt dream of putting it in as it would be a complete waste of time with no benefit what-so-ever.
