Turbo
With a standard turbo, the boost should come up strong at about 2,500 revs and be there smoothly to around 6,000rpm when the boost pressure starts to die off.
The boost guage should rise upto 0.6BAR and stay there, maybe slightly raising from this on hills in full acceleration in 3rd/4th.
Rust
The more important things about Uno Turbos. To find out the worst, get it put through an MOT, but the most important things are the sills and the rear inner arches. Funnily enough you either have great or terrible rear inner arches. If they're starting to rust inside, chances are they'd've rusted all round. Welding, especially on areas involving shock absorbers, is a precision and time-consuming job. Inc. labour, for 2 inner and outer sills, it's not unusual to cost upto and even, sometimes, over £400 on an Uno Turbo. But at least it should be good for nearly ten years, then.
Other areas include the floorpan, under the bonnet suspension turrets, the bottoms of the doors, and the rear panel behind the bumper.
It also might be worth checking the front wishbones with a particularly bright torch if the Uno you're looking at is a particularly rot-worm-ridden one.
Tyres may be quite badly worn, so check them, and check for any clutch slip. Put your foot hard down in 2nd gear from 2,500 RPM and hear the engine note rise slowly through acceleration. (note that this shouldn't be encouraged in a highly modified example, as lots of wheelspin and large black streaks on the road could be left)
Apart from that it's really just the same as any other car.
If it was MOT'd recently, then it's fine.
If it wasn't, or if there's no MOT, then put it through one, if even just to get a good idea of what needs doing.
