Hello, i have just had fitted 4 kenwood speakers, a 1200w jbl sub, and a 1200w amp. it is just soooo bassyyyy and i can hardly hear the singing on the song as i try to turn it up, and the bass just make me not hear the song! even when the bass is on the loweset setting -7 from the headunit. is there a way of tuning the bass down from the amp, or would i need to get a smaller amp (800w) please advise me urgently! lol thanksss guys

turn the sub off completely. check there is no low pass filter on the amp for the main speakers. turn the HU to max volume and get the front speakers a loud as they will go without distorting using the gain on the amp. then get the rear speakers to balance well too then finally set the sub on the HU to the middle-ish setting eg. my HU has sub 0 - 8 so i set it on 4, then on the amp for the sub slowly turn it up until it blends nicely.

you may wish to turn the bass down slighly on the amp for the speakers but see how it sounds.

oh thanks mate, very helpfull. 1 more thing... my dad has recently got fitted 4 kenwood speakers. they soun dreally clear, but have no kick on them. eg there is like no bass at all. whats the best option - not to expensive to add some bass to the system, just to make the stereo better, baring it mind, he dnt need a 1200w sub or nuffin lol, just sumfin that will give the clear sounding speakers a lil oomp. some1 suggested a small 100w sub, or like a bass speaker?? any ideas

so playing around with the EQ on the HU hasn't done anything on his system? What HU has he got? is it the standard one? maybe you could try putting urs on temporarily to see if that makes a difference rather than investing money in a new one to find it doesn't!

a sub could be the answer but seems like a lot of hassle if he's not wanting a full system cos of all the wiring to the boot and stuff.

could consider amping the speakers instead but if he's on standard HU i'd try that first.

3 possible soloutions in order or preference
1. sub, good small amp for a bit of bass, can get this for less than 100 with all wiring and amp

2. new head unit, it is what produces the bass so one that can deal with this better

3. 6x9's, this is last for a reason but they are esentially cheap bass

send your posts here dude, it may help someone else looking similar information

useful sites are the likes of caraudiosecurity.com which you will see pop up quite a lot here but to be honest you can pick up the likes of fusion encounter packs for 99 quid in halfords etc. that was my first sub package and ill swear by it, very good for the money and for what your looking it would be perfect, small 10" sub offering good bass in compact tube with in built amp and wiring included. just have a browse around shops and if youve any question just post them up
