Hi all some urgent help plz.
Went to start the car this evening, put ignition on 1st click everything was good, went to then start the car and everything when off all the lights went off no ignition nothing then I took the key out and I couldn't lock/unlock with the fob.
I got back in the car and put the key on 1st click again and everything started to slowly come back into action all lights were back on,I then got out shut the door an tried the fob lock/unlock the car and that worked.
So I then got back in and tried to start the car again and I was back 2 the previous paragraphs loss of all power.
So I'm thinking it could be a fuse/relay or the battery.
Any help would be a big help and I'm sorry for the long thread
Many thanks

If a fuse or relay fails, it stays failed.
I'd suggest checking battery connections, including all the smaller leads connected to the positive terminal, as a first step.
Could the battery be failing? Is the battery old?
Is the battery fully charged? Try turning on the headlights and see if they are of normal brightness.
Then work from the battery to the fusebox checking each wire/connection as you go. At the fusebox, check all fuses and relays are firmly in place.

Don't worry about posting a long thread - the more information you can give, the better the chances are that someone can offer useful advice. :)

Hi,
Things to check, in order:

1/ Battery
If you have a volt meter or DMM connect it to the battery, the actual lead posts, not clamps. With ignition off it should be >12v. With ignition on and dipped headlights ON it should be > 11V. If it is less than this the battery is faulty or flat. If the headlights don't come on aor are dim but the voltage ia 11V or higher it's a bad connection or fuse.

2/ Bad earth connection.
Measure voltage between battery negative and chassis with head lights on. If it's more than 0.5V you hve a bad earth connection. Confirm by connecting a jump lead between battery negative and chassis nd see if fault goes away, if so replae negative lead. Also try jump lead between battery negative and engine block.

3/ Bad positive connection, fuse, relay or ignition switch.
Measure voltage across cigarette lighter / power socket with ignition on an dipped headlights on. If less than 10V (and step 1/ is OK) you have a bad positive connection. Check and if needed clean and tighten battery positive, fuses on battery and other fuses. Could be corrosion in fuse box.

HTH,

Robert G8RPI.
