Why are some subs screwed into their installs with the magnets facing showing instead of the cone?

Does it sound better? Most subs dont look that good from the arse end.

i dont think that it really matters whether its inside or out, just personal preference. Aslong as the box it is mounted in is correct for that sub then the sound quality will be the same, it still goes boom, boom

Depends what your wanting mate, i was told inverted weren't as good as regular ones cos of the pressure difference when they are in a box.
I asked about people who had inverted ones nd learned that in a boot as small as the punto/sei/cinq it doesnt matter cos the boot acts as the box. you just cann't turn them up as loud with the boot open or you'll blow them B).

I know what you mean about most dont look good inverted, i had my local motor-world taking every sub they had out including ones ready built in boxs so i could have a look at them :D. My SPLX ones are the best i could find at a decent price (i've got 4 kids to think about as well modding the car, so couldnt go for expensive ones :()

audiobahns look stunning, for which you pay the cost :p

i got an SPLX one, and sounds bassy enough when the magnet is snuggled up to the wadding inside the box

When inverting subs, remember to allow for the extra volume that the sub takes up when mounted normally. Also invert the polarity as the sub will be pulling when it should be pushing otherwise.

P.S. It makes no difference at all to the sound as long as you make up for the volume difference, which would otherwise change the sound and also invert the polarity. All that is gained from inverting the sub is that it looks cool and allows you to use a smaller enclsoure.
