Right, other than the obvious, what do i need?

currently thinking:

Turbo (Garrett GT25R AKA GT2554R)
Gasket Kit
Oil Feed pipe
Oil Return Pipe
Water feed pipe
Water return pipe
3 bolt to billet (boost side)
forged pistons and rods
exhaust down pipe to join with center section
Boost piping to suit
ECU Remap to suit
Plenty time

Anything else?

what turbo are you thinking???

ive forgot if yours is abarth ornot? if not abarth turbo can see you to 200bhp..... if it is abarth is it time for a turbo, asin what bhp is it at?

My car is currently running 160 (1.4 MultiAir Turbo 135). Its the same engine albeit the standard turbo (GT1238Z vs GT1446) and ECU map is different.

I'm reckoning atleast 240bhp from that turbo and a good map.

Yup, my thoughts aswell haha. Only think is that most people used a T3, not a T25 turbo for some reason?

anyone else thinking of old punto GTs :D

broom pssshhhhhh BOOM POP :D

Yup.

Though i'm not too sure of the limits and stresses of this series of engine... although the T-Jet itself i believe is a very, very, very distant relative to the FIRE's used in cento's, as in the old uno 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 8v's FIRE lead to the birth of the 1.2 16v...which lead to the 1.4 16v superfires (along with a very indirect link to the larger engines in top end construction), which has lead to the t-jets...all extensively reworked though over time. I know the stresses an 8v can be pushed to roughly, the t-jets (should be) a good whack more considering they were built with turbocharging in mind, but 240bhp would be a push, not so much for the enginbe if the pistons and rods are forged, but more for the transmission, can that be pushed that far? the boxes in modern fiats seem to be the weaker points tbh, i'd be very worried pushing any of them beyond 200 brake plus turbo torque.

Scoop, Shazes turbo is on its way out. Where are you getting the uprated one from? can you send me a link etc plz?

have you checked to see if you need a manifold for the turbo?

Its a T25 fitment and is a petrol turbo, not a diesel one. (Assuming yours is a 1.9Mjet?). There's an adapter plate the Protoxide make that converts the FPT flange to the T25 :)

The 1.4's are all FIRE engines, even the new multiair and multiair T-Jets. I'm actually looking at the M32 Box (The one that has the known failure issure with the 5th/6th gear bearing but easily sorted though.) The M32 box has a torque limit of 320NM? (Although I'm sure its the same box fitted to the 2.0 M-Jet on the bravo's which actually output more towards the 360NM of torque. The only problem is if the splines at the hub side are the same size on the shafts fitted to the C510 box. Fitting the M32 shouldn't be that hard aslong as the slave cylinder and gear linkage is the same which I'm sure that it is (EPER will be checked) and the bell housing thats on my car adapted to fit the M32 :)

Will the ratios of the M32 be fairly suitable though? it'll be geared different for the lower revving diesel to help keep the engine in its lumpy torque band for longer and keep it there, The diesels grunt is all low to middle, the petrol turbo is mid to high revs.

I suppose given they are both turbo'd engines, they will have some similarities in the mid range but the petrol will have a wider torque band. If you're fitting a bigger turbo then it might all get a little bit laggy low down and if the gear ratios are a bit off on the M32, you could find it's really poor off boost and not making the most of its torque band at the top end either as the gearbag runs out of ratio before the engine runs out of torque, you could easily end up with the gearbox being a huge restrictor rather defeating the whole point of upping the power as much (if the ratios were especially incompatible). Though something sticks in my head that the m-jet box is a relative of the one used on the Abarth anyway? if so then i'd guess all is ok both for fitment and ratio... just best to cover all angles before going ahead :)

M32. there not as bad as people think. its the 6th gear being plastic thats the problem.... but then its for cruising so why would you need to put the power down...

if you geta m32 working DONT give it death in 6th. always drop the gears and you will be fine. got a few friends running over 200bhp on 32box for well over a year and no problems.

all depends on how the box has been treated ect , if its been abused the bearings are more than likely to die , im sure the 6th and the vauxhals 6th gear is made out of plastic , or visa versa , dosnt matter what its made out of , its the beariings what die , Fiat now supply "uprated" bearings in there boxes , or you can go and buy the "uprated" bearing from a supplyer and it shouldn't relay go wrong again , Plus ive heard if you fit a LSD it helps keep the bearings in 6th nice and healthy

would still need to know what the spline sizes are for Tue huh, never got round to checking eper to see if the bearings are different numbers.

Ahh well, I've decided instead of going for all that bumf, which really isn't worth the money (G/Box and drivetrain) on top of everything else. I've decided to juet get the GT1446 :)
