Went to Fiat today to see about gettting and upgrade to my central lockins system. I have the 1.6 with door locking and was wanting to add the remote to it. After reading about it on here, I assumed it was just as simple as plugging a little box into a switch in the glove!

Why then is it £75 to upgrade! Robbing Bas*ards!

Is there any places on the web that supply appropriate parts for any cheaper!??

Hi,

£75? I dont think thats too bad! Does that include fitting? I might get this done myself!

The £75 kit from fiat comes with two remotes. It's a 10 second installation job, just unplug the relay for your central locking (Usually under a removable panel in the glovebox)and replace it with the new one.

Pretty much the same kit is available with one remote for about £50 from http://www.beeper-alarm.co.uk/ (Go to accessories, central locing solutions)

Re: Remote

I think I phoned them up to order mine. They'll want to verify it's the right one for the right model. If you have a look at your relay before you call them it'll save time. Make a note of what it's got written on it.

(I think it's the relay that's furthest right on the block once you've removed the panel in your glovebox) (Try pulling it off and see if your doors stop central locking. It just pulls of and pushes in)

Re: Re: Remote

Be absolutely sure that you get the right one !

Not all Bravo/Brava/Marea has a relay to control the remote locking.
Mine (a 1998/99 Brava 100 HSX) has an electronics box, and not a relay !

So my advice would be:
- take out the glovebox and have a look at what's in there :)

I have a Meta Systems M320/2 additional electronics box for my remote.
It's a original Fiat spare part.
I can find the partnumber if anyone want's it :)

Re: Re: Re: Remote

I have purchased this kit and it is great. I'm afraid though if you have a mkII Brava/o it's a bit longer than 10 seconds more like 15 mins as you have to take out the glove box as the relay is behind there.

It's well worth it though.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Remote

hi,

My bravo is a 97P reg, is that a MK1 or Mk2?

Also how do you put the remote locking on if its a MK1?

Thanks

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Remote

mines a mk1 and i fitted it by just taking the plastic panel out the top of the glove box and swapping the relay. i dont know about the mk2

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Remote

If you are ok with electrics, you can get a universal one from maplins for £25
