Well its confirmed all abarths are like lepers nobody wants one :(
Took mine on saturday for a trade in price check and bearing in mind i bought the car off this dealer 6 months ago for £3500.

He said sorry not interested in any petrols above 2 litre.
Book price £3000 in May, June unwanted (n)
I said how about £2700 against a £5000 car, No sorry just not wanted in the present climate he says.

Looks like were stuck with them, not that i want to get rid as its a cracking car :D

LOL - send them to New Zealand, average asking price for a 2003 Abarth here is still the equivalent of £7800. :) Though because I wanted a fairly quick sale, I practically gave mine away at $16500/£6500 late last year, sold within a week.

Our salaries are about half yours, so it makes the Abarth an expensive car to buy and run

ALWAYS sell privately - if you're depending on a dealer (like a drugs junkie ;)) then you're being shafted.

If it's any guide, back in April my '54 ended up going for £3k when i was looking for £4-4500. Reluctantly let it go as I - well, the dog - desperately needed the larger boot of an estate.

This decline in values is expected to continue as the trade / buying public are becoming less "aroused" by 2L plus petrols. Many dealers I spoke to back in April refused to touch my car, low mileage, fully loaded, mint condition, FFSH. All the aspects you'd expect to realise a good price!

Real shame, as it was a great car - I do miss the paddles! At least those buying will get value from the purchase prices, even if the running costs eventually catch up....

And, while petrol/tax is on the ever increase, they're going to keep falling.
Did you watch the tonight programme last night? Guy with an ML purchased for 12k less than a year ago couldn't sell it for 6. Dealer said it had lost 600 last month alone. People seem to be getting tight with their economy which is fair when the government have 60% of everything you put in your tank.
What was recommended (strangely) was a remap. Quentin Wilson drive's one of the thirstier vehicles and was averaging 23mpg pre remap, after remap was averaging over 30. OK it was a diesel. THe other recommendation was LPG, which I had on my Abarth (and which I regret parting with), and was getting (financially) the diesel equivalent of 58mpg.
