Started using my heater again, for ovious reasons - but there is a strange smell that wafts out of the vents when I dont use it for a while - it smells like hot moldy plastic - bit like the smell you get from small attics or action mans hair???

After about 15 mins it goes - strange

Have it cleaned (theaircon) or go to a independent motor factors they will have a spray to use ,tell them your problem .Should be around about 9-15 quid job!

Personally i've not had any joy with those anti-bac sprays ( missus alfa had similiar problem ) , best cure is run car on drive and crank up the heating to max , i left it running for 45 mins ( windows were hot ! ) , it literally burns the stuff up . Alfa has been great since doing this 4 months ago

Just don't use the aircon. It's only for wimps anyway.

I'm not using the air-con, its when i put my heater on its smells, it makes my eyes water, plus He-man was far better so therefore do not want to be reminded of Action Man?

Air-con is good in some ways, I find it good for storing cold meats.

Is it when you have the heater AND the air con on or just the heater alone? If it's just heater then something is burning.

Smelly aircon is a bacterial "mouldy" smell not a burning plastic smell.

It's not the aircon then. Sounds like the heater is melting something plastic.

trust me chap, its fine. mine does it aswell.
just a crap build up when you haven't used the heater for a while, mine did it over the weekend when trying to warm the young ladyfriend up but soon cleared after 15 mins on full.

oh Dan Dan Dan. when she said she was cold she didnt intend on you warming her with the heater!
