i get the same thing.
i am going scrappy and getting a set of 1.8 calipers and then getting some grooved red dot discs and fast road pads.
1.8 is vented discs not solid crap like wats on the 1.6.

well i was street racing. doing about 100mph down to 35 back up to 100 down to 35 for about 6 round abouts in mk. wasnt a surprice when i think about it was scary when i tried to brake tho just didnt slow down at all good job i know how to slow down with the gear changes cos my hand brake dont work either

Make sure you don't get totally worn out calipers, they will be worse than your current setup.

racing a 1.2 clio, 1.6 rover tomcat, 1.6 rover 216, bmw 318 estate, 3litre twin turbo supra with nos
clio i was all over. the 1.6 tomcat has me slightly. the same engine is in the 216 but was standard so i had no chance. 318 was a wierd one i wasnt getting away but he was catching. the supra lets just say... yeah...
