[Earting questions (tom?)]

i have been running the same ICE setup now for the past 18months but over the last 6 weeks it has been driving me mental !!!

i am getting serious alternator whine and also when i open / close the doors the speakers cut out lol well the front ones do anyway.

i have bought a new earth cable 4gague which goes into a splitter box and a piece of 8awg connects to my amp just like the old one did.

however this has not solved the problem i am still getting altinator whine....so i thought ******** to it i will earth it somewhere else, so i tried 3 places and none seem to have worked i am still getting altinator whine and when i accelerate to around 5,000rpm the whine gets so bad it cuts out speakers.

right, IF i move the earthing point and put the headunit on it is perfect, sounds fantastic i go for a drive etc and all is well, if i leave the car for 3 or 4 hours then it goes back to how it is now.

i am tearing my hair out atm it is driving me nuts !!!! and ideas ?

and where is the BEST place to earth my amp ?

Youve probably got a wiring problem somewhere in the front speaker wires.

i considered that but i have checked and they appear fine, and are all wired up etc and connecting fine and are not trapped.

but what about the whineing sound ?

and where is the best place to earth ? any pics ?

Disconnect the front speakers at the amp and see what happens.

i will unplug the front speakers tonight and test tomorow.

so whats the worst case senario ? are my comps fooked ? or just need new wireing ?

right, i unplugged my front speakers out of my amp and had a drive about last night and again this morning it seemed fine, no altinator whine or anything, it sounded **** though, lol all sound from the rear but it was clear and it was as it should be.

so it looks like it is defenatly front comps that are causeing the problem. i will take those out tonight and see if i can see anything dodgy if not then i will just replace all the wireing
