did anyone else have a cold start to the day. got in the car ready for work and the handbrake had froze, had to wait most of the morning for it to thaw out. is this a come problem on the hgt or does mine just not like the cold.

Very common

Leave the handbrake OFF when you park up. Leave it in first gear if you are parked facing up a hill, or in reverse gear if parked facing downhill, and point your wheels towards the kerb

Re: Very common

Is this the 1st handbrake freeze of the year? Congrats!!!

Re: Re: Very common

Re: Re: Re: Re: Very common

Supposewdly its common and has it own piece in the bravo guide http://www.bravo-guide.co.uk/fix-a-bravo

It states:
Can you see your breath?
Yup its froze! There is a rubber grommet either missing or come out of the hole where the handbrake cable goes in. Although it is tempting to "force it" using the drive from the front wheels, you will rip the pads out. Find a local dog and give it a bowl of water.....
The alternative - leave the car in gear and the handbrake off.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Very common

Will putting spray grease on the handbrake cable make any difference to it freezing ?, can it be seen easily from the engine bay ?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Very common

i park at home right at the top of a very steep hill, if i leave the car in reverse and turn the wheels toward the kerb and leave the hanbrake off, will it be safe enough. won't gravity take it's toll and damage the gears somehow when the car wants to roll forward ?
