I have the 1.8 and get around 320 350 miles per tank thats city driving. Maybe the 1.4 is just not very economical or as ur having problems with the car maybe not . I used to have a rover 1.4 and that was about 35-40mpg.
having said that you tank is smaller. It depends what petrol you use. There is a crap petrol station by where i live and get an extra 60 mile filling up at a decent place.
Nadine, 260 miles is about right for the 1.4, they arent that economical which was one of the reasons that engine was dropped from the range. You should be able to coax it to 280 - 300 if you drive in yer fluffy slippers though.
Once you get it sorted you will love it, have faith you will get there!
Yeh I may have faith that I will eventually have a descent car, im just afraid that my Dad will have topped himself due to debt before I get a chance to pay him back!!!!
