Thats need to know that is.
Hi there, not often do i wander into this section so be nice lol

Got myself some Uno Turbo rear discs and calipers to go on my seicento turbo. It is my understanding that these calipers bolt to the hub, am i right? So i just need some rear hubs from a UnoT to swap with my rear hubs and then i can get these on...

Hi,

I'm just wondering if the rear calipers you bought came with the carriers?

Cheers
Dan

I think Blu means 'carriers' when he mentioned 'hubs', so yes, you will need the carriers as well as the calipers to fit the brakes. I seem to recall that someone may have done this before and it could well be a bolt on swap - does no-one in the 'Cento section know about this conversion? Also don't forget that the hand brake cable assembly is also different for the turbo Unos compared with non turbos.

To be honest with you, a car as light as the 'Cento doesn't really need any more braking power at the rear - make them too good and you'll risk the back of the car overtaking the front under heavy braking! If it's like the Uno it will already have a rear brake load proportioning valve that will restrict the braking forces to the rear drums with no load in the car. The valve will still operate with the discs so you'll end up with the same braking force whether discs or drums. The only real advantage you'll get will be reduced fade under extreme braking and a handbrake that actually works ;) :p

i tend to agree tbh that the rear discs are not needed but they look
My old cinq turbo had UnoT rear discs, however that shell got scrapped and i never looked at how the rear brakes went together properly. i defo need the hub as cento hubs are obivously part of the drum setup, they are part of the bearing unit. not sure who fit the brakes to the old cinq, they were on there when i got it. I will go ask Jamie if he did it

oops, i should have seen that really

So having read that, he's made up a custom mounting plate for the caliper, on an UnoT is there a bit behind the hub like that bracket? I ask because i know a guy who is gonna get me the bits i need off an unoT so i need a proper description of what i need him to get off it.

So atm, i need the hubs and the carriers.. which are the next bit that comes off after the hub??

Yep, UT's have the caliper adaptor bracket on them which is attached to the stub axle. Using this and an UT rear hub and disc should align everything up nicely. Another way you could do it is, use Tipo 240mm front discs and the 'cento' rear hubs with an caliper adaptor bracket like I did on my 128. This adaptor obviously is slightly different to the one on the UT. The advantages of going the UT rear hub way are, wider track by 12mm and piece of cake to do (if the adaptors are available).:)

right i'm off right now to look in the shed, pretty sure they aren't painted at all. the fronts are the blue ones originally from emm's (now martins) car.

1 moment i shall return.

EDIT: Ok Jamie, it would seem your right.. One is yellow at least anyway, have this wierd memory of you giving me some UnoT rears and never really looked at them.

pic of calipers:

Not sure what the discs are off but they seem the right size for the calipers, they quite obviously aren't the discs the calipers were on though
