well, my 130 quid banger has put in a full shift this week...covered 300 miles plus, mostly motorway miles at 80ish mph and is returning about 45mpg...!!..id forgotten how good these wee cars are......i bought it as a stop gap, but think it will be stayin chez moi for a wee bit if it keeps on keepin on in this vein!!...forza uno, bravo!!

My first Uno was a 'stop gap' car too. 30,000 miles later (still running well with 105K on the clock) I gave it to my sister and foolishly bought a Citroen AX GT instead. :bang:

My second Uno was even better! Sipped fuel, cruised at 80mph on the motorway and was fun to drive. It's currently having a 'sabbatical', but might be getting breathed over during the summer ;)

Get a bad Uno and they can be a nightmare. Get a good one and you won't find many other cars for the price that can beat its all round abilities (y)

Come and post in the Uno section!

Yes - now, it's high time that you stopped calling it the "130 quid banger" (does your keyboard not have a 'pound' symbol - mine doesn't ) and thought of it as your 'Classic Uno' instead :) Assuming that it's the Mk1. Let's see some pics, eh?

Welcome to Uno ownership.
As Chas says, sometimes you have a few things to fix up after uncaring previous owners, or even indifferent assembly at the factory! But everything you put into the car makes it more 'yours', and rewards you in the long run with low-cost running, plus you get to help and be helped on our forum ;)

here here!(y)
I just love Louies Uno! Was rather shocked at how much i love it tbh. From my very first drive in it i was impressed, its a right happy little motor and never lets us down!

How about a standard Uno Turbo Mk1 overtaking people at exactly 124mph on the M5.

I bet they were a wee bit shocked at that, all in their mercedes super-saloons and MPVs, doing 90, getting overtaken at more than 30mph faster by an 80's box. Woo.

here goes some fotos of my uno, later i will post more

today i reach the 175000km, no problems

Looks nice, always liked that colour on the Uno.

Fiat always chose much nicer colours than other manufacturers of the time, even my Burgundy Uno sparkles and shines better than brand new cars.

:)

my £150 uno 1.1 60s did 320 miles of 25 quid petrol (just under 3/4 tank) wolverhampton to bourmouth and back

well...my uno is gone...boo hoo...but im replacing it with an alfa gtv 2000 iv bought thru ebay...pick it up on thursday....let y'all know how i get on....if it makes it home...

Well, after my Cinq Soleil I bought to have something a bit more modern and reliable broke down, it looks like my old faithful Uno will be getting another stint on the road while the Cinq gets repaired...

As for the Alfa GTV, do you mean the one pictured below? If I recall correctly, the gearbox is over the rear axle to aid weight distribution? They can be a bit temperamental, so it might have been an idea to keep the Uno as back up ;)

yup..thats the one..bought on impulse, its bound to be a disaster......mrs has an old mundano now tho, so at least we have something to fall back on...uno mot and tax were up end of month, so im afraid i refuse to spend money on a car thats virtually worthless anyhow......its off scooting around the fields for a farmers son nearby.........an unseemly end for a faithful friend......still, needs, as they say, must........will keep y'all posted on how the alfa purchase goes......never buy the first you see...never buy sight unseen on a description, never buy without driving.....yup....broke all those rules.......buggger....

i haven't really driven my uno, looking forward to in february. I drive it around and stuff but never taken it out
Wondering how many mpg i will get :D
supprisngly the little 999cc has a little go and have dun the odd wheelspin accidently lol :eek:
Those GTVs look class :yum:

Nice cars when they're running. But when they go wrong, they make grown men cry  Even the Stig!

By the way, is at a 2.0 GTV or a GTV6?

I've just spent almost as much on a set of lowering springs and shocks for my Uno as I did buying the thing in the first place!

Springs and shocks = £40

My Uno bought in April 2003 = £46

But I love the old Italian tin box and she could be getting quite a new lease of life soon ;)

At least it will do when the wretched Cinq is repaired after eating its clutch and possibly gearbox :bang:

its a two litre gtv...i actually prefer these as the gtv6 understeered terribly and i think the twink is a wee bit less fragile.......paid 600 quid for it on the premise that if i break it i should surely return that amount of money...it has mint interior and just had 400 quid spent on engine/exhaust etc....pics here...

Link is broken, so can't see pics of the auction :(

GTV6 is good in straight line but not so clever when it comes to corners! The 2.0 twink is definitely a better handling car, and in the twisties would probably work out quicker than the 2.5 litre V6.

Wish I could have a car like that, but I'm having enough problems with a dinky little Cinquecento at the moment let alone an old fire breathing Italian temperamental mistress!

My Uno is going to come to the rescue again :)
