Hello lads,

I'm rebuilding my dads '91 uno turbo 1.4. I've done a complete brake job (paint, master cylinder, seals, pads, etc). The thing is that the previous brake pads and the new ones don't come with some sort of anti rattle clips. When i drive and go over bumps the pads rattle and it drives me crazy. My dad says that sometime at 2001 when he took the car to fiat, they did some kind of patent and the rattling stopped. Does anyone have any idea, pictures for universal clips or diy idea?

(the pads only rattle when no brake force is applied)

Thanks

On Turbo versions, the anti-rattle springs should be attached to the pads.

Yes they have those attached but idk if it is enough. I think they are moving vertically.
Is it wear in the calipers or pattern pads? I have seen some cheap pattern brake pads that were a loose fit where they slide into the calipers, not Fiat though ;). Also any run out on the discs will make a rattle worse.

I use ferodo pads. The previous ones where magneti marelli, i don't think this is from the pad itself. I also use paste

I can't see from the pic of the caliper, they are not like the Ford Escort ones that have long spring plate that locates in holes in the caliper, a little like these? Thinking back though they were for Girling type brakes that had one pad with a spring steel crown that fitted inside the piston. These say they are for UNO

Yes they are like a W at the top of the pad.

Aghh, thanks but they're different brakes from bendix. One friend above mentioned some clips that the Web says they're for uno, which i bought but i cant tell how they would fit
The clips I mentioned grip the edge/lip of the metal backing of the pad it's self, one per pad facing away from the disc so as not to come in contact as the pad wears down, from memory the rounded part faces towards the middle of the pad whilst the protruding spring/tang takes up the slack/rattle by pushing against the part of the caliper that the pad slides down as it wears.
It basically operates were the rattle is caused between the pad and the caliper, so if you imagine the contact area the pad being dragged by the motion of the disc in it's normal direction of rotation agaisnt the caliper.
I would draw a picture, but I am not known for my artistic skills;)

I'm trying to imagine it, as I'm abroad now and not with the car. Since i already have these clips i might try it again. I will se my uno again in a month😢
