my mum has bought a near mint mk2 uno turbo ie
the problem she has is that she is so used to having power steering.

i'm thinking of fitting the seicento power steering system to it 'cus i think that was electric.

has any one done this 'cus i'd like to know about the rack itself and the steering column of both the uno and the seicento.

here is the picture of her car (if it shows up on here that is)
sorry the only picture i have at the minute is of it being dirty.

Looks a nice Uno. I'd suggest the Mk2 Punto steering rack and column, as that is definitely electric, possibly the right size (given that the Punto is a similar size to the Uno), and at a cursory glance the rack looks similar.

The Mk1 Punto 90 (1994-1999) has a similar engine to the Uno Turbo and it has hydraulic power steering. That may be worth a look to see whether the pump can be mounted in the same place.

A much easier solution would be to change the front tyres for factory size (175/60 13) and pump them up nice and hard (32psi).

Just my thoughts.

I may be wrong on this, but I always thought the Turbo had a "quick" rack ie. fewer turns lock to lock than standard models. If true, then you may find that a standard uno rack makes the steering easier.

cheers guys,

isn't the uno steering rack the same with all of them. didn't think the turbo one had a different rack at all.

is the uno turbo rack the same as the 1400 tipo then, if so i could probably get one to fit but then theres the problem of the pump fitting the uno block thus the electric p.a.s idea

A standard uno rack will make the steering lighter, you'll just need to do more arm twirling at roundabouts. Give you mum a couple of weeks and i'm sure she'll get used to it!
