So, I have an Uno Turbo conversion in an X, and I have recently started to have an interesting problem.

When starting the car, you have to pump the gas like a mad man to get it running. Once it starts, you have to keep it above 3000 rpm, or else it will die.

I am thinking that a sensor has died on me, such as water temp, or something. So, I plan to go through and measure all the sensors on the car. Has anyone run across this same type of problem?

Just looking for other thoughts.

Thanks all

Eric Armstrong

Hi Eric, I had a similar problem a while back, my car would start first time but revs were very low almost like it was about to cut out and as soon as you pressed on the accelerator pedal it would certainly cut out. I found that it was the coolant temp sensor which was the culprit. Is yours a mark 1 or 2 engine by the way???

Sorry, forgot to mention it is a 1.3.

I will check again for loose hoses, however, I was thinking it was a sensor problem of some sort.

The problem started in the middle of an autocross, so the idea of something working loose is a good one.

Weird why it seems to work only at 3/4 to full throttle and not anything else.

If I don't find anything, including the temp sensor, then I will pull the injectors and see what is going on.

Thanks all for the replies.

And the answer is....

Bad coolant temp sensor.

Took it out, and tested it. With the ohm meter, there was no reading when going from pole to pole.

I have a new one on the way, and should be taking off again soon.

Thanks for everyones suggestions and help.
