hey guys, i am trying to turn my uno into an uno turbo lookalike, ive been looking for a uno turbo badge to go on the boot for ages but cannot find one anywhere. if any of u guys have a spare one i could have or buy it would be most appreciated... thanks
 
i am already working on the open front grill and been thinking about lowering for ages, its just finding the springs cheap enough. would a flush tailgate be a good idea?? ive wanted to do it for a while but dont want to mess up the looks of the car
 
yeah they look pretty cool. depends on what look your going for really?
the euro look with just deep wheels and lowered spring look smart IMO.
check out Dunc's UnoT, he has a flushed MK1 Uno bootlid on the car and just smoothing it all out.

get some tints maybe too
 
no, the PCD (4x108) is too big for the Fiat (4x98)

thats not taking into account the offset, which is "15 to 20" n the Saxo vs "35 to 45" for the Uno
 
any ideas what i can do to my uno to make it look the part then? maybe a UT lookalike isnt such a good idea.

UT lookalike without the power will be a sheep in wolf's clothing. Everyone who knows what a Uno Turbo is will probably try and race you and you'll look daft when you haven't got the power to match the looks.

Keep it smooth and simple and don't clutter it with add on bits. Remember the Uno comes with Italian design and flair from the factory and it still looks good even today. I'd definitely go for the 'less is more' approach and keep it smooth and simple.

Forget the 'Turbo i.e.' badge, and besides they fetch a lot of money when they do turn up. I would fit a turbo front bumper with integrated fog lights in it, or if you could find an SX front bumper which also has fogs. Turbo skirts and wheel arches always look good and were also fitted to the SX models. 'Chunky' alloys or deep dish Euro look wheels suit the Uno very well, and of course lowering will make the stance even better but choose your springs/ shocks wisely. Some of the cheaper kits look good but ruin the ride and handling.

Other than that just keep it polished and looking nice :)

EDIT: I agree with Serin, don't fit wheels meant for another manufacturer's car. It just looks wrong. The only exception is fitting wheels from another Italian manufacturer like Lancia or Alfa. Many of those were made by 'Speedline' who also made wheels for Fiat so they're in keeping with the Italian heritage (y)

dont go for the euro look!!

just fit the turbo skirts, arches and bumpers, rear lights, along with a spoiler. then the full interior, Louie is breaking a mk2 turbo so you could source a lot of the parts from him

i think a turbo replica would be cool especially if your young and cannot insure a turbo.
 
Save your money, and wait a a couple of years until you're 21, then with the money you've saved, and not spent on badges, trim, seat belts, wheels, and other parts to make the car look like an UT, you'll be able to spend on a better and newer fast car. (Punto GT? Punto HGT? etc).

I speak from experience, and when I was 16, and spent all my hard earned cash on making my Fiat 127 look like the 1300GT model, and then had no money left when I wanted to by my next car, I regretted it seriously. So I spent no money (except for servicing and fuel) for one more year, and then had enough to by an Uno Turbo. Money much better spent. :cool:

In any case, adding bigger wheels, more trim, etc, etc will only weigh the car down more, which will make you're 1.0 feel even slower than before.

unless your living in utter poverty making a uno turbo rep is easy and dirt cheap, i could do it over the weekend and spend less than a saturday night **** up! and how is a set of plastic arches and sideskirts gonna slow you down????

my first car was sort of a UT rep but kinda wasnt, i fitted it with punto sporting wheels, lowering springs, and the UT wheel arch covers and sideskirts, it looked alright i thought.

get in contact with louie who is breaking a mk2 turbo he is advertising in the classified. also check out Turbo Collective, its the best place to buy uno spares.

Plastic side skirts won't slow you down, of course, but bigger wheels with heavier tyres, etc will.

But, it's okay. I'm just saying what I would do.

Treat the Uno well, spend the money on essentials, like servicing and parts which may fail. Then in a few years you can get rid of your 1st car, and with the money you've saved up for not spending it alloys, trim, etc, you can get a decent and better 2nd car than if you hadn't saved.
