Dear Friend's

I'm interested in FIAT Uno Selecta (1372cc). Could anybody tell me the good and the bad for this kind of Uno, especially for the transmission. Or any good Website I could learn for selecta transmission ? I want to learn more before purchase this car.

Though id just say hello and welcome to the forum.

no one has replied is proubly a good thing, because if there was a lot of problems with them every body would have heard about them and posted them up.
I have a selecta box in my punto and get no trouble with it. I was going to buy a uno selecta off ebay today but i missed the end of auction.

Thank you for your reply dave,

we have no same situation, here I heard a lot of problem. Could it because of inappropriate maintenance ?

firstly, I want to understand the transmission works, than how to dismantle or any part I should periodically change.

Could you tell me a good website for understanding such matter ?

(Now, I enjoy driving my 1299cc 1990 Uno. It's almost 14 years.....)

It's both: Continuously Variable Transmission. A sort of automatic.

AIUI. Hugely expensive to sort out if it fails - usually replaced, rather than repaired.

Should be quick tho

If you tried in a DAF of about 30 years ago they did[:0]B)

Lethal.[xx(]

BTW their system used two rubber bands (instead of the single steel belt on the newer ones) - one to drive each of the rear wheels: no differential to worry about.
If you broke one of the bands, you just stopped and pulled out the broken band, threw it away, got back in and drove on.[8D]

What price progress?

i remember my grandad telling me of there old motor(dont know which) breaking down with a fault and they had my old man (then a boy) pouring petrol in the carb whilst riding along on the outriggers/outriders.(cant remember which word) to get home.them were the days[:0]and you could get yer chimney swept properly;)
