Hello.

I have an 1989 Uno, 1.3. Lately I've been having a lot of problems with it. Most has been fixed, but one thing, I cant seem to find an answear to.

When I drive, it often reaches 70 degress, then suddenly, when driving at low speed it goes out. In pull in to the side, and try to start it again by putting it bit of pressure to the speeder. It then starts up again, at 85C and drives like it did when I bougth it! (Which is a good thing :) )

Are there anybody out there that might have experienced the same? Or has some tips on what to do about it?

Hello, welcome to the forum

By 'goes out' I think you mean that the engine stops (with no jerking/stuttering)?

I have had this problem when the ignition amplifier module is faulty. That is a finned aluminium box screwed onto the side of the distributor. Try to get a spare/replacement, as they are a reasonably common failure. I assume that your Uno has the 1301cc engine, not the 1372cc.

However you could also have a bad earthing problem on the engine - that would explain the change in temperature gauge reading and the ignition amplifier not working. Clean the main earth connection on the gearbox (take off the bolt and cable, and wire-brush them). Also clean the small black earth wire inside the distributor.

we had a similar problem, except it just cut out completely at like 90degrees. i think alex is right, its a little silver box, about the size of a wedding ring's case thing (first thing that came to my head lol) motor factors have them.
