General uno - driving problems !!

dear o dear...........

hmm...

Still new problems...

Now she will die anytime when i accelerate gently on any gears..revers needs pushing the accelerator real hard to keep her on...after warming up, if i stop her for any reason (accidental or intentional) she needs a real long cranking to restart...possibly a 1 to 2 minute crank ! (battery is real good!)

My third cylinder is leaking, and spark plugs are usually fouling intermittently. will open up the cylinder next weeek , change the ign module and try to service the carb.

I have spent a huge some on this car for re-conditioning now, but bcoz of this probs, it's all running down the drains(n)

SOME ADVISE IS REALLY APPRECIATED....

Rajeev

that is begining to sound more and more like the diaram on the side of the disy some models were made without a trap for fuel excetra and almost all had the same problem
this whould afect the ignition timing and burning of the fuel resulting in the intermitent fouled up plugs you have

not sure obout the leaking cylinder what do you mean as in compresion test leaking ie head gasket gone or worse

dear pip,

nope.

The diaphram is fine.

oil leak in the cyliner due to gone oil seal..

What could be the problem ? how could i trace it ?

the prob is, if i press the accelerator, engine will start to race, then at a point it will start to fail and if i press further, it will start racing again.. the prob is with this particular point of accelerator.. on 1st and 2nd , this will result in a smaal jerk, in 3rd it will creat a jump, and in 4th and 5th it will give a huge power lag and jerk heavier.

is it the fukin carb or the accelerator pump ?
car is otherwise having fine power, going top speeds of round 140 with 4 persons on level, and accelraation is good too..tyre burns on 2nd gear too..

it's a 999cc fire 45S.

where is alex/czenda/ant ???

Hi prem sorry to hear about your prob, it can get disheartening when you can't track down a fault, this is a fault that has been covered before and ive heard of many times, one of the only probs your model gets, i think they stuck extra emmission controlling gizmo's on yours, unfortunately i dont have much exsperiance on your model, sounds like fueling, has it got a good fuel supply, undo the fuel pipe and crank it over into a petrol can and check for good constant flow, strong spark, have you checked the cam, crank sensors and relays , also the connection under the radiator exspansion bottle, have you got a haynes or porter manual, breakers yard near you that you could relieve of some parts or a friend with the same car then you can swap bits around until you identify the culprit, thats one of the reasons i bought 2 UT's which proves usefull quite often, also a good mechanic mate when all else fails as i'm a bodyman by trade but competant mechanic and auto electrician, get out there and get your hands dirty good luck Ant!

ant,

no probs with fuel as i stated b4,hope u are not following this thread too close, well no probs to get dirty, but no reason to do so as the probs is not yet solved.

may b alex knows or uno 45s ..............

there r very rare 45's on this forum so finding help is a real big issue here but ny way i'm out to sort this out nd keep her running like hell again .............

no extra gizmoz, only a cat converter which is useless anyway , and nothing to do wit this prob..

well in that case i can only say carb is a fault
their are progresion holes in their wich are most likely blocked so as you acelerate you start to get over fueling and flat spots
i hope you get it sorted soon as when their right they are a cracking good car

i have an uno start ie same engine as yours only i have sp injection instead of carbs much less hasel

i does 50 mpg on average and easaly powers on to 100 mph i love it to bits

have you got your car sorted yet
or you still got problems

I've played lot with the carb, and it's much better now, but the strange jerks are still there, and a nasty petrol leak from carburettor just above the solenoid valve!

any more comments r highly appreciated !

Thanks/Rajeev
