hello everyone,i am new here and i'm loving this forum!
congratulations to people who are behind it.
i have a '91 1100 ccm fire uno with central locking installed.
the trouble is,lock tends to lock and unlock itself without any reason often multiple times, which is quite a problem as u can imagine. that happens especially when driving, and hitting bumps(plenty of them here:)
any ideas what is the cause,or at least is there any easy way to turn the central off?
has it fuse or something?
thanks for future help:)
bye

Sounds like a faulty connection point in the electrics, possibly the earth. Probably one of the switches or something.

Don't ask me, I don't even know anything about anything anymore.
Who are you?
Where am I?
What year is this?

You could unplug the door locking solenoids? if you take each door panel off and unplug the connections to them. - but then you will have to manually lock each door like in the 80's!!!

Probably a rusty lock mechanism. If the catch (particularly inside the door) is a bit sticky (caused by rust or lack of grease) then the lock motor cant move it far enough or fast enough. This means it might give up and try and go back or get itself into an 'in the middle' situation where it trys one way and then the other.

The central locking mechanism on the Uno is very simple so it is easy to keep it working well. Many people cut the wires to the motors because they cant be bothered spraying on a bit of WD40 and freeing up the mechanism with a bit of grease.

If you think its the motor thats causing the problem then you can fit a replacement motor. Most car accessory or electronic stores will stock the motor as FIAT used a standard part (you might need to adjust the wiring to the motor as FIAT used a weird plug, just add some standard connectors to the existing wiring).

Central locking is a very nice feature to have in a car so its worth getting it working properly. Good luck.

In the mean time you can remove the fuse, if the mk2 uno is like the mk1 uno then the fuse will be in a small fuse box which is on the other side of the car from the main fuse box.
