Hi there,
Well, it's MOT time again
My car's been through the test and failed on a couple of things; no great surprise there
.
Some welding needed on one side (inner and outer sill) and new rigid brake pipes, one section being a lot more difficult to fit than the other.
Have looked at the braking system diagram in the Haynes manual but am a bit puzzled by the arrangement as I look under the bonnet (for one thing there isn't any mention I can see of 2 different sizes of pipe being used
!).
The steel pipe which needs replacing is a larger diameter than that which goes to each wheel (near side already renewed).
It starts quite close to the master cylinder (joined by a flexi hose not shown in Haynes) and travels to the back of the engine bay, where rust has set in close to the soundproof deadening material, and then the pipe disappears from view. Looks like it eventually connects to the pressure regulating valve?
Does anyone know the exact path of this brake pipe from the engine bay to the back of the car, what size it is and whether I only need to replace part of it (if intact elsewhere). I realise it's not worth taking chances with brakes so any doubt and I'll renew the lot.
Thanks,
Andy
