General Uno Advice

Hey to all, i've just popped in from the Brava/Bravo section cause i'm going to look at an Uno tomorrow

Its a 999cc 1993 <L> reg, MOT'd till April

I was wondering if any of you would be kind enough to tell me what to look out for when i go tomorrow? any little tell tale signs that may end up costing a fortune or that i can use to knock the price down from £250

The woman selling it has said that the exhaust is blowing but was patched up 18 months ago and doesn't seem to have deteriorated and it passed the MOT with it, but that and rust along the drivers door seems to be all thats wrong.

Any help would be appreciated

mine has rust under the driver door also.
also i had dents and rust where someone had tried breaking in...but im not complaining
seeing as i got it for free and the only problem is the water pump...supposedly

yea mine has rust across drivers door as the doors are not galvanise like the sills arches excetera i whouldent wory about them their not an mot fail also if it has just pased their probably isent much rust on the botom of the body shell mine is k reg and i just looks like brand new no rust on the shel itself whatsoever i realy have looked and cant find any all i can see is lots of black underseel
an a good job it has been doing these last 14 years too

howether i whould look out for water or musty smells in the car as the rear windows sometimes leak (only if they are the opening ones)

also were the front of the windows goes into the bodyshell water gets in and wets the seat belt reals so pull them all the way out and feel them for damp
on mine i decided i wasent going to stop the water coming in their cos it dident com in the car so i just taped som plastic bags other the seat belt reals under the trim an hay presto their dry now and for the rear windows well their not coming out in a hurry i glued the front half of them to the window seals they open fine but no longer leak

and well thats about it for my car i have only had a few other problems like cluch wearing out and a few oil leaks around disy easaly sorted with a 35p o ring
