Just started running around in 1994 UNO.

Does anyone know what the urban consumption should be like for this car?

At the moment I am getting 35mpg....

I get 41-42mpg average urban driving, and 54-57mpg on the motorways when I drive at the speed limits in town and 60mph on the m/way.

The engine runs smoothly and I had it serviced recently....does this mean I am too enthusiastic with the revs? My driving is all Urban...average speed around 30mph....

Average speed in town is seldom that high for me (my Punto has an average-speed readout - it's usually about 34km/h which is 20mph).

But anyway - check that the tyre pressures are up to about 30-32psi, remove any excess weight from the boot, have the wheel alignment (tracking) checked (the Uno should be easy to push on a flat surface compared to other heavier cars).

Then concentrate on driving technique - not braking but instead getting off the accelerator earlier (anticipate holdups ahead), accelerating more gently (forget the Traffic Light Grand Prix), perhaps build up most of the speed in 2nd gear and then shift straight to 4th to maintain speed only (which requires only a very light throttle). Carry speed through corners so you don't have to accelerate afterwards (again, less use of the brakes). Never accelerate when going up a hill - build up speed before the incline and then let the speed taper off. Of course you may be doing all these things already, but this is just my general advice ;)

Ok - the Clutch finally went 2 weeks ago and I fitted a new clutch.

Acceleration improved and so has fuel economy.

I can manage 210 miles per tankfull - all my driving it totally urban - does this sound ok?
