Hi Everyone,

I joint this forum today and i will like to inform that i just purchased a second hand UNO last month which was 10 years old. I have a strange problem with this car. When i cold start the UNO will start and run with no problem. But when the car stops say at a signal and i try to release the cluth on 1st gear the engine will stop. Then when it try to restart with the ignition the starter motor will run but the engine will not run. I have checked the alternator and it shows 12 volts on the battery with the engine off and 13.5 volt with the engine on.

But when i directly connect a jumper wire from the battery positve terminal to the injector point and start with the igniton key then the engine will start. I will like to know whether the fault is in the ECU, the igniton key link to the ignition point or the injector relay. I am kind of pissed off because of this issue as i have to always carry the jumper wire to short the batter +ve and the injector point because of this issue. Thanks in advance for your help.

I am not sure if this is posted to the right thread.

Hi,
What kind of tests have you done and what were the results?

I find a methodical approach to any diagnosis, be it a computer, car, lawnmower etc it helps if you do everything in order.

Here is a couple of suggestions:
1. Check the resistance (ohms) between battery negative (-) terminal, and the bodywork. what was the result?
2. check the resistance between battery negative and engine metalwork. what is the result?

I just want to point out i have no real technical knowledge on your specific vehicle/engine setup, but im pretty certain your fault is a basic one (not ecu for ex).

Let us know if your still having issues/or if you have resolve this

Thanks Paul for your valuable reply. The mechanic traced the problem to the pump swithc which he replaced and the problem is solved. It was kind of jammy which used to be on contact when cold and not when hot sometimes. Replacing of the pump switch done the trick. :) Thanks again for your valuable suggestion. He has also cleaned the battery contacts and applied some petrollum jelly to the contacts.

Harish.
