Unknown Pipe

Hi all first post,

There is a rubber pipe next to the engine/air filter that I do not know what it does.

The pipe is split and has had masking tape wrapped around to to prevent any leaks.

On further inspection the pipe doesn't actually connect to anything it just hang down.

Can anyone tell me what this pipe does and is it important?

it should be connected to the underside of the airfilter box,
