Where is the auto choke on a 1.6 elx 1999 model as car has been pulling back when throttleing and goes to die if u give it to much have disconnected the mass air flow sensor etc and am not getting pi22ed off as cant source why it is doing this

Also have never changed ht leads is there a teltail to if it could be these
And with the maf disconnected it shows an injector light it goes out when connected again if u disconnect both wires/plugs from the throttle body car just revs up

Firstly the car doesn't have an automatic choke in the method of how a manual vs auto choke works, its a bit more complex and its the throttle body that does the job which traditionally a choke does.

Failure of HT leads or coil packs will normally result in a misfire. Does it misfire, or does it just die on power

Dies on power but does miss fire when u start it some times conks out straight after starting and when stoping revs drop then just starts to rev it's self sounds like its over 1000 rpm when stationary not the usually 500 to 750

Pete, know bugger all about 1.6's but could this be a faulty inlet manifold vacuum pressure sensor?

This would coincide with the engine dying when you give it throttle, when you apply the throttle the vacuum would increase and the ECU would compensate, if it was getting incorrect/spurious readings it might cause the problem?

Ok I will sorce a 2nd hand manifold today thanks for replying was worth a try as I'm at my wits end with It
