Hi,

Long time member of the forums due to my partner's Marea.

Am looking at buying a Ulysse and have seen some very competitively priced high milages. Am interested in servicing intervals and costs and would appreciate any advice.

Having been through a cambelt change on the Marea, I know that this is a big and expensive job, so any guidance in this area (re costs and intervals)would be welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Hi adadof2

For the MK1 2.0s petrol ulysse the servicing intervals as taken from the owners manual are:-

fuel filter every 60 thousand kilometres
air filter every 45 thousand kilometres
timiming belt every 120 thousand kilometres
coolant every 60 thousand kilometres
oil and filter every 15 thousand kilometres

I got the timing belt done at 90 thousand miles:eek: The mechanic first thought it might need to take the front off the car:eek: but it was done through the nearside wheel arch. He said job was no more differcult then most.
A auto technical cd I have quotes 1,90 hours (1,90?)
regards

Donald

Hi

2.0 EL 8v, get it regularly serviced, try not to use FIAT, I use an independent FIAT garage. Had the belt changed about 110000 miles? wasn't any problem changing it, just kept putting it off! I wouldn't worry about the high mileage, mine's at 130000 and it runs like it did when I bought it at 40000. It is on it's third clutch though! and I don't ride the clutch so take note. Expect it will reach 200000 no problem.

Cheers

I do the basic servicing myself- oil, filters, coolant and plugs. Apart from a idle problem easily solved in my case i've had no problems of sorts which ment the car off the road. My 97 plate 2.0s petrol was purchased 4 1/2years ago at 47,000 miles and now on 117,000 and runs as sweet as -something very sweet!! car as far as i know is only on it's second clutch, mind you no city driving to speak off. Mostly open roads :p

Oil i change every 10000 miles with magnatec and wynns oil additive I swear
it made a difference -lower noise etc

Many thanks for the feedback, it doesn't sound sucg a drain on the pocket as I had imagined. I have driven Galaxies for years, but hired one of these on holiday last year and fell in love with it - No camparison at all against the Galaxy.

Am looking at the Mk II, most likely the diesel auto if that makes any difference to the comments.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the response Stuart.

Oddly enough, there is another thread going on at the moment entitled "Buying an ex-fleet Ulysse". By coincidence, a couple of the participants appear to have purchased from the same outlet that I am considering, an outlet that appears to specialise in the Mk II Diesel Auto. Milages are around 60k up, and they appear to have had the cambelt services.

I have also posted there, to guage opinions re this outlet.

Thanks again.
