Back with a few questions about my Ulysse 2.0JTD
Car is running fine after engine rebuild (cambelt failure) just have a taping noise from one injector that is going to be replace but doesn't affects engine performance.
Board computer tells me that fuel consumption is 28.8mpg (today after 50miles round trip) but that can't be right.
I drove to Portugal this August (1360 miles each way(around 18 hours) and when I got there computer was showing 29.9mpg but I know that I have used 150 liters of diesel for the trip and if I'm not wrong that gives me over 50mpg.
The question is...
Is there a way of resetting the onboard computer so it reads more accurate ?

Ric

Hi
Was reading 29.9mpg after the 1360 mile trip.
The 28.8 that is showing now is without resetting the trip computer.
If I do reset it it normally shows around 20mpg.

Ric

Shame
I was hoping for a solution
What is the point in having a trip computer if the readings are so far out.

Thanks
Ric

The lack of response should indicate that no one has this problem, what spec Ulysse do you have?

My 2.2 Prestigio with 6 speed box averages around 39 mpg according to the trip computer, but it has 3 trip counters, maybe you are not resetting them correctly?

Hi
Mine is the base model Dynamic.
When I reset the trip computer all counters go to zero (miles driven/average consumption/average speed).
Is there another option ?

Ric

Don't know sorry, only ever owned the Prestigio models where you can reset the current data or trip 1 or trip 2...

No, as that's what it's supposed to do.

Can turn trip B on if you have that feature in the menu to have 2 trips (y)

I believe the cluster under the steering wheel comunicates with the engine via the VAN bus on 2004 Ulysse models. The engine ECU provides the cluster with very accurate instantaneous fuel consumption data over the VAN bus. The cluster can be programmed to calculate fuel consumption in Miles/gallon and Litres/100km, so I assume it must be this unit that is doing the MPG calculations. Have you checked that the cluster odometer mileage readings correspond with the actual distance covered on a journey? If your 'real' MPG is satisfactory, I suspect something must be wrong with your cluster unit. It might be a good idea to check it out with Peugeot Planet.

CANbus not VAN bus ;)

Not sure if any Ulysse were CAN as they were discontinued, though 2006+ 807's & C8's I think went that route.

I have checked on SEDRE and the OP's car (2004) uses the CAN bus to link Engine ECU, Auto G/Box ECU (if Fitted), ABS ECU, ESP ECU (if fitted) and the BSI ECU. All other systems are linked to the BSI using a VAN bus (3 networks). Regarding the OP's problem, I am fairly sure that the BSI stores total vehicle mileage, so it is possible that fuel consumption calculations are also performed by the BSI with the results being displayed on the instrument cluster. It might be useful to check the settings in the BSI with Peugeot Planet to see if all its parameters are set correctly.

Thank you all
Just to much hassle for so small problem
I'm going to put it up for sale this weekend (needs a clean)
Someone ?
96400 miles
Part service history (service book stamped until last service (90000) but not much paper work
Some invoices and some MOTs + service book
Everything works
Slight knock on rear axle (had it on the ramp twice in a garage but they couldn't find anything)
Any takers ?
Need something smaller, can't justify driving around in such a big car on my own (it was fantastic for the holidays with the wife and daughters).

For the knock on the back, we had a tailpipe fitted a few years back, every time the car went over a bump etc there was a clunk, turned out that the springs when compressed hit the back box, later changed the whole system for a stainless steel one.

How much you looking for it?

Hi Frantic (david C ?)
The first guy to have a look was a mechanic and the only thing he found was a slight play in the front drop links that were replaced and no luck.
Second time was at an MOT station and the same thing, nothing was found.
The noise/knock is not bad not like when you have something hitting metal or a damaged shock that's why I thing is the rear or left sliding door.
Looking for 1600
Is on the classifieds
Going to put my Alfa back on the road :)

not called David, name is Franc!

To test your door theory, try driving somewhere suitable with the doors open and see if the noise is still there!

Knock on the rear axle sorted (2 suspension bushes replaced)
Price reduced to 1400 need to sell.
See advert on classifieds.
