UK - New 80MPH speed limit

That's why I push it then I suppose as I have quality anticipating skills. Not saying I'm a great driver, never will do. I just know I'm more than safe driving down a motorway at 80mph!

By the way, I am also in favour of increasing the speed limit to 80, but I would either have more sleep or a strong coffee to keep me awake, not just go faster.

Tbh in the current economic situation with petrol so expensive I think the best thing would be to keep it the same. Only rodduz seems to have an issue staying awake at 70 anyway.

Well a few different things killed Ayrton to be fair, not just a wishbone to the head.
Medical report (Syd Watkins and hospital) said he was unmarked apart from the steering harm which unluckily (understatement) pierced his helmet and went straight through.
He clearly knows everything oldcodger, you can't teach him anything new.......
Sad but true, but you've got to try !

You really are a monumental fool. How old are you btw?

True! I honestly think that if the limit went up today, it wouldn't make much difference because those who are paying for their own fuel are being more careful with the right foot than they would have been a few years ago, and those that are in fully funded company cars do 80 anyway!

LIke I said, the staying awake was overdramatic. I just feel everybody would have to be more alert and aware if we were travelling a little faster so let's do it :)

Why don't we put a spike on the steering wheel then?

I'm sorry but quite frankly I'm surprised that at 26 you're still this ignorant when it comes to driving.

Erm yeah that could work!

I don't see it as ignorant at all. Anyway I'm off, this is nearly as boring as driving along at 68mph on a long wide road with flawless surface! See you on the M roads. I'll be the one undertaking pricks cruising in the middle land just to make a point to them :)

Is this a wind up?
You are not a great driver but you have quality anticipating skills?
Have you ever heard the saying "pride comes before a fall?"
I will let you work out what it means.
26? Dammit. If insurance underwriters scan this forum they will be saying:
"and we thought 25 was a sensible cut off point for reaching greater maturity! We best increase it to at least 26."
I don't think that having an 80 limit will automatically mean more crashes or injuries either. That is a debatable point. But what is not debatable is that in my experience of many years any driver that thinks he has superior skills usually doesn't. He is kidding himself .
Have you ever had an accident?

Is that really the best idea? Surely moving out and overtaking them then moving back would be a better idea - proves the point to them without making you a complete prick too?

No I have not, touch wood. I'm not just saying I have good anticipation skills for the fun of it, I genuinely do. I'm not kidding anyone, I know exactly how good I am at driving amongst other things. I know what my strengths and weaknesses are. I'm a competent driver I feel.

I agree with what you said. But I seem to remember that he had other injuries. Moot point of course because he was dead, I think though that he also had massive internal injuries.
No, it was a survivable accident. Several drivers in that era went of at Tamburello and are still here today. Nelson Piquet in a Williams. Gerhard Berger in a Ferrari are two that immediately come to mind. Where Senna was unlucky was that the front right wheel broke free from its tether and got trapped between the side of his car and the wall, but the steering arm was still attached and came in to the cockpit.

No you're right its not the best idea. That's one of my weaknesses as a driver, I get wound up by **** drivers, I admit it. Usually use drivers realise their fault and move over for rest to go on as should be.

Did you anticipate this response then?
