Hi all,

I welcome your advice - I need to replace the front tyres, it has cheapies on all four corners at the moment.

In your experience, what are the best make for longevity and low road noise?
I read somewhere that Michelin Energy's are really good on the Multipla returning good fuel consumption and lasting 20,000 miles. But I'm blowed if I can find that link!

Finally, Is it worth replacing all four tyres?

I have Michelin energy tyres on all four corners, and have had good all round performance. When I first got my Multipla it came with worn front tyres and then went through the first front set of goodrich's fairly rapidly. go the front suspension and tracking checked/adjusted and this set have been very good. Still road noise about town, but great on longer runs.:)

I've tried several brands and have been using Yokohama DBS 205.60x15 for the last 75k and have not found the need to change.

Have a look at http://www.mytyres.co.uk there is a brief summary of each tyre that will probably help.

Many thanks! (y)

@ Frosty 44 - what sort of money were 4 Michelin Energy's?
@ Peat - thanks for the link!

As you haven’t disclosed - I’m guessing your running on 185/65R15 or 195/65R15 ?? … maybe load/speed rated 88H?

If so (?) then the good news is - they’re probably the most common tyre sizes in the universe … so volume production equals plenty of competitive pricing … leading to a good performing tyre for around £50 (all inc). But `The world is your lobster’ as Arfur Daley would point out.

I’ve not run on Michelin’s for some years as they’re a tad expensive for my taste - my policy is not to replace with premier league tyres. My last set of premier class (outside of OE Pirelli) were Firestone F590 Fuelsavers, bought simply (as many punters do) as like-for-like replacements – but were good for longevity (front:30k+ mls, rear: 50k+ mls). In more recent times I’ve been influenced by the middle-range envelope of tyres – particularly when they meet (or exceed) the performance levels of the premier class. My current replacement favourite is the Fulda EcoControl (185/65R15: £50 Sep/2009).

You do disclose your running on “cheapies” … but what make/model etc? … & what about your spare? Is there maybe a brand new full-size premier league spare hiding in the boot that might influence your buying decision?

Two or four new? – depends on how far gone your old 4 (or 5?) are.
